Here are all the aspects of a DIY tank that need to be assessed that I’m aware of:
Room that the Tank will be in
- dimensions
- temperature control
- intended temperature
Tank
- dimensions
- material
- shuttering (how it opens and closes)
- ingress/egress – how easy is it to enter and leave the tank?
- ventilation – in some cases, airflow into and out of the tank may be an issue.
- portability – how easy can the tank make it around tight corners into back rooms and up flights of stairs? I.e. some tanks ship as large fiberglass pieces which will not make it around corners in a room. In contrast, a pop-up tent has small parts that you put together to make the tank later.
Heating and Temperature Control
- water heating system
- tank insulation from ground
- tank insulation from room temperature
Pumping Water via the Spa Pack
- flow rate of pump
- gravity-fed or self-priming
- mag drive or not?
Sanitization via the Spa Pack
- mechanical
- chemical
- chlorine
- h202
- UV
- ozone
- carbon
- biguanide
- bromine
- ionic (zinc, copper, silver) – Hallelujah! Fluid float has been re-discovered! : r/FloatTank (reddit.com)
Cost
